About the Role

General Purpose




The Quanta Standard Inc. – Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead the development and implementation of the company’s technological strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall mission and objectives of the organization. This senior executive role is pivotal in driving technological innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the security and integrity of the company’s technological infrastructure. This role will be instrumental in embedding these core values into every aspect of the company’s technology management strategy.




This position is fundamental in ensuring that the company’s technological infrastructure supports its mission to leverage quantum technology for national security, while driving innovation and continuous improvement in the technology field to ensure Quanta Standard remains at the forefront of technological advancements. By promoting a culture of excellence and proactive technology management, this role will help safeguard the company’s assets and support its strategic objectives.




Additionally, the Quanta Standard Inc. – Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. This role will drive innovation and continuous improvement in the technology field, ensuring that Quanta Standard remains at the cutting edge of technological advancements. By promoting a culture of excellence and proactive technology management, this role will support the company’s strategic objectives and technological leadership.




Main Responsibilities and Duties


Develop and execute the Quanta Standard's technology strategy. Create and implement a comprehensive technology roadmap that aligns with the company's business objectives and drives innovation. This includes identifying key technological trends, setting strategic priorities, and ensuring the successful execution of technology initiatives.
Oversee the implementation of new technologies and systems, involving the integration of new technologies into the company's existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless and efficient operations. This includes evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies, managing implementation projects, and ensuring successful adoption by end-users.
Collaborate with other executives to align technology initiatives with business goals. Work closely with the CIO, COO, and other senior leaders to ensure that technology initiatives support the overall business strategy. This includes participating in strategic planning sessions, providing technology insights, and aligning technology investments with business priorities.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. Continuously monitor the technological landscape to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. This includes attending industry conferences, networking with technology leaders, and staying informed about the latest advancements in quantum computing and related fields.
Ensure the security and integrity of the Quanta Standard's technological infrastructure, implement robust security measures to protect the company's data and systems from potential threats. This includes developing and enforcing security policies, conducting regular security audits, and responding to security incidents.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the technology team, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices. This includes implementing process improvements, leveraging new technologies, and fostering a mindset of continuous learning and development.
Manage technology budgets and resources, oversee the allocation of technology resources and manage budgets to ensure efficient and effective use of funds. This includes developing and managing technology budgets, tracking expenditures, and ensuring that technology investments deliver value to the organization.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, by leading and mentoring a team of technology professionals, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. This includes providing coaching and development opportunities, recognizing and rewarding high performance, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry experts. This includes collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs, providing technology insights, and ensuring that technology initiatives align with stakeholder expectations.
Provide expert guidance on technology matters as well as serving as a subject matter expert on technology-related issues, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership and other stakeholders. This includes advising on technology investments, providing insights on emerging technologies, and supporting decision-making processes.
Maintain compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to technology and data security. This includes staying informed about regulatory changes, implementing necessary compliance measures, and ensuring that the Quanta Standard's technology practices align with regulatory requirements.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring efficient and effective execution of projects. This includes managing the department’s budget, resources, and infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. By maintaining a high level of operational excellence, this role will ensure that the IT department can achieve its strategic objectives and deliver impactful results.
Lead and motivate subordinates to advance employee engagement and develop a high-performing managerial team, by consistently exercising the right behaviors and fostering a culture of accountability, in alignment to the overarching goals and ethical standards of the company.
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting the company’s core values and ensuring that all employees exhibit behaviors that align with these values.
Use a principled approach to decision-making, ensuring that all actions taken are ethical, data-driven and in the best interest of the company and its stakeholders.




Education, Experience and Qualification Requirements


Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline, such as an MBA or a master's in technology management, is a must.
At least 15 years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 8 years in a senior executive position.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful IT strategies that drive business growth and enhance operational efficiency.
Extensive experience in managing IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and systems.
Extensive experience in the quantum computing industry or related technologies.
Proven experience in developing and executing technology strategies that drive business growth and innovation.
Strong knowledge of technology principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated expertise in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
High level of integrity and ethical standards, with a commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or similar are highly desirable.
Strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective technology strategies.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in using data and analytics to inform decision-making and drive improvements.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and build consensus.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands


This position follows a hybrid work model and is based in our United States offices (Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, VA). Travel is required, domestic and international, 20%-30% of the time. The Quanta Standard Inc. – Chief Technology Officer (CTO) may also need to visit secure facilities and data centers.
The role may involve working extended hours to meet deadlines and manage critical situations.
The role may require occasional lifting of light objects and long periods of sitting or standing.




Compensation Package

The compensation package for the Quanta Standard Inc. – Chief Technology Officer (CTO) position includes a combination of base salary (commensurate with experience), variable compensation (based on attainment of metrics designed for this role) and equity ownership (based on Quanta Standard compensation policy). This package is designed to provide both immediate financial benefits and long-term incentives aligned with the company’s success.
