About the Role
We are on a mission to grow the entire world’s wood without cutting down a single tree and we are looking for you to join as our Chief Technology Officer.
Forest loss is responsible for almost 25% of all carbon emissions. As the first pioneers of growing wood from cell culture, our team will have the opportunity to make one of the largest contributions to solving the climate crisis, and take over one of the largest industries in the world.
Who are we?
We are a pre-seed startup from Gelderland, Netherlands, pioneering a radically faster, cell-culture-based alternative to traditional forestry. Our proprietary tech allows us to produce high-quality materials 10,000x faster than conventional methods, directly grown into finished products—unlocking solving up to 25% of the entire carbon emissions crisis. We operate lean, move fast, and empower us all to do the best work of our lives here.
In just over a year we have validated market pull, built a proof of concept, attracted the top scientists in the field to our advisory board and raised pre-seed investment to accelerate our growth. So, this is a perfect time for you to join us.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a world class CTO who is looking to shape the future of forestry
- You are a visionary technical leader with deep expertise in biotech, bioengineering, or biomanufacturing.
- You thrive in evolving environments, enjoy building from the ground up, and have experience taking complex innovations from early concepts to scalable solutions.
- You are motivated by building impact, excited about sustainability at global scale, and energized by speed and momentum.
- You reject bureaucracy, challenge the status quo where needed, and instinctively simplify complex problems into actionable paths forward.
Requirements:
- PhD in plant biotech / bioengineering / biophysics, and have moved from academia to industry.
- Experience in or passion for startups because you wanted to move faster.
- Driven, with an ego-free team spirit and a winner's mindset.
- Experience leading teams in a high-growth environment before, and are itching to build something new.
