The CTO will play a crucial part in guiding the long-range direction of the company through direct leadership of world-class technology and engineering teams.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Participate in strategic and operational planning as part of the Executive Leadership Team
- Define the company’s overall technology strategy in support of business goals and objectives
- Establish overall direction and strategic initiatives for the engineering team
- Manage a diverse engineering team of AI/ML scientists and SW/HW/FW/Systems engineers and instill a culture of continuous improvement
- Regularly and accurately communicate the status of all technical development activities at an appropriate cadence to the ELT, the broader organization and to key external stakeholders
- Monitor, analyze, and where appropriate, incorporate the latest technologies to improve the company’s products and business performance
- Initiate and manage a variety of simultaneous programs including R&D, NPD, sustaining engineering, and business improvement projects
- Collaborate with VP Product and CEO to develop long-term integrated product/technology roadmap
- Oversee data/cyber security, information management, and governance
- Work closely with Director of Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory to ensure products meet DFX goals and deliver outstanding customer experiences
- Work with VP Finance and CEO to develop and manage an annual engineering department budget
- Make infrastructure decisions, ensuring technical excellence, versatility, safety and soundness, resiliency and scalability in the architecting and engineering of product solutions
- Direct the structural development of software systems
- Develop policies and procedures to design efficient and scalable software architecture
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or other relevant engineering fields; Master’s strongly preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive management experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience - PMP or other certification desired
- Background in Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning strongly preferred
- Demonstrable experience managing operational performance within financial budgets
- Success in building high-performing, cross-functional (SW & HW) engineering teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking abilities with a problem-solving aptitude
- Broad knowledge of software engineering and experienced leading agile development
