About the Role
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Almazan Law, a Miami- and Tampa-based multi-practice law firm, seeks a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our digital transformation and build a proprietary platform that redefines insurance defense in Florida and beyond.
The ideal candidate will not just manage IT, but will also architect the most technologically advanced insurance defense platform in the country. A fronter firm in legal tech and use of AI within a law firm of the future.
Key responsibilities include designing firm-wide AI strategies, integrating complex SaaS ecosystems (Clio, iManage, OraClaim, Ajax, Protégé), and converting operational litigation data into new and improved services that will propel the legal industry forward and deliver better overall client outcomes. The CTO will eliminate traditional billable-hour dependencies by building and/or implementing carrier-facing transparency tools and automated document pipelines. This position will report directly to the CEO, and will work closely with Operations, Marketing, Administrative Support, and 3rd-party consultants.
Who we are:
Almazan Law is not a traditional law firm. We are an established, multi-practice insurance defense firm (Real Estate, Workers’ Comp, Liability, Construction Defect, Litigation) with real revenue and market share, currently redesigning the operating system of the modern defense firm. We are moving away from the legacy "0.1 increment" model and toward a data-driven future. We intentionally cultivate a culture of innovation where technology is used offensively to create transparency for carriers and efficiency for attorneys. We are already live with cutting-edge tools like LexisNexis Protégé, OraClaim, and LawKPIs; now, we are looking for an architect to scale them.
Who you are:
We seek a "builder" rather than a maintainer. You should be a product thinker who is comfortable working inside APIs and fluent in automation frameworks. The ideal candidate is obsessed with data structure and thrives in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments. You are someone who views AI not as a drafting shortcut, but as a total systems upgrade. You should be motivated to translate complex legal operations into scalable, automated systems, demonstrating a commitment to technical excellence and strategic growth.
What we need you to do:
● Architecting Firm-Wide AI Strategy: Designing and implementing AI-integrated legal workflows, including internal GPT-style systems trained on firm-approved knowledge.
● Building Data Infrastructure: Creating centralized data pipelines from Clio, QuickBooks, LawKPIs, and Ajax to power matter-level profitability dashboards.
● Developing Carrier-Facing Tools: Building real-time reporting dashboards and outcome forecasting tools to provide unprecedented transparency to insurance partners.
● Integrating SaaS Ecosystems: Automating workflows across platforms ( MS 365, InfoTrack, Protégé, and Clio) to ensure a seamless "Firm Operating System 2.0."
● Designing Predictive Analytics: Converting litigation and claims lifecycle data into predictive modeling tools and defense cost forecasting.
● Automating Legal Workflows: Overseeing the creation of automated document generation pipelines and AI-assisted discovery/deposition prep.
● Establishing AI Guardrails: Developing compliance frameworks and security protocols for AI usage within a regulated legal environment.
● Reducing Billable Dependency: Engineering technology-enabled alternative fee structures and data-backed pricing models.
● Optimizing Attorney Performance: Implementing KPI-driven dashboards that track efficiency and automate repetitive administrative tasks.
● Leading Technical Vision: Working directly with the Managing Partner and CIO to take market share from legacy firms through technical superiority.
● Managing Data Warehousing: Building and maintaining internal data infrastructure that compounds in value over time.
You must have:
● A Proven Track Record: Experience as a Startup CTO, VP of Engineering, or high-level Technical Product Manager.
● Technical Fluency: Deep experience with SaaS integration, API management, and modern automation frameworks.
● Data Expertise: Proficiency in building data warehouses and translating raw operational data into actionable business intelligence.
● Strategic Mindset: The ability to move between high-level strategy and hands-on system architecture.
● Entrepreneurial Spirit: Experience eliminating inefficiencies in professional service or regulated industries.
● Continuous Improvement Approach: Ability to break down existing workflows and redesign with new modern capabilities at scale.
● Bonus Qualifications: Prior experience in Legal Tech, the Insurance industry, or a background in building internal data warehouses for service-based businesses.
Benefits we offer:
● Competitive Base Salary: Commensurate with high-level executive experience.
● Performance-Based Incentives: Tied to measurable efficiency gains and revenue growth.
● Equity Potential: Potential participation in affiliated legal-tech initiatives.
● Direct Influence: Partnership-level exposure to firm strategy and the ability to shape the future of a litigation platform.
● Flexible/Hybrid Work Environment.
To Apply: Please send your resume or LinkedIn profile along with a brief note regarding a system you built that changed how a company operated.
Optional: Include a Loom video explaining your approach to building a data architecture across Clio, accounting, and KPI systems.
