Job Summary

We are seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the overall technology direction of Betamek Berhad and its subsidiary Betamek Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd.

As a leading Automotive Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider, Betamek specializes in infotainment systems, telematics, and automotive electronic solutions for OEM customers. The CTO will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s long-term technology strategy, driving innovation in automotive electronics, and ensuring alignment between R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Business objectives.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening Betamek’s position as a technology leader in connected vehicle systems, smart cockpit solutions, and next-generation automotive electronics while ensuring compliance with automotive quality standards and global best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the company’s overall technology and innovation roadmap aligned with corporate strategy and growth objectives.
Lead and oversee all Research & Development (R&D), engineering, and product development activities from concept to commercialization.
Drive innovation in automotive infotainment systems, telematics, connectivity platforms, and embedded electronics solutions.
Ensure product designs meet OEM specifications, regulatory requirements, and automotive standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO).
Establish robust engineering processes, product lifecycle management (PLM), and technology governance frameworks.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Project, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.
Strengthen strategic partnerships with automotive OEMs, technology principals, semiconductor partners, and research institutions.
Oversee technology risk management, cybersecurity frameworks, and intellectual property protection.
Drive digital transformation initiatives, automation, and Industry 4.0 practices within engineering and manufacturing environments.
Build, mentor, and lead high-performing R&D and engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Present technology strategies, investment proposals, and innovation updates to the Board of Directors and executive leadership team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in automotive electronics, embedded systems, or related technology industries, with at least 5 years in senior leadership role.
Strong expertise in automotive product development lifecycle, hardware-software integration, and system architecture.
In-depth understanding of automotive OEM requirements and quality management systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
Proven track record in leading large R&D and cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing R&D budgets and capital investments.
Excellent strategic thinking, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience in infotainment systems, telematics, connected vehicle platforms, or smart cockpit technologies.
Exposure to Japanese OEM collaboration and understanding of Japanese business culture is an added advantage.
Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and functional safety (e.g., ISO 26262).
Experience in digital transformation, automation, and Industry 4.0 initiatives within manufacturing.
Strong network within the automotive electronics ecosystem (OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, technology partners).
