Utilize your technology leadership and strategic expertise to guide Farmers Cooperative’s information technology operations. As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will:
- Lead and oversee the cooperative’s information technology department and staff, ensuring systems, software, and infrastructure support business goals and operational needs
- Set the strategic direction for IT initiatives, including evaluating current processes, implementing upgrades, and improving efficiency through technology
- Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to identify technology needs and implement company wide solutions
- Manage IT capital expenditures, budgeting, and vendor relationships, including contract negotiations
- Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, cybersecurity practices, and data governance to ensure security and compliance

A Day in the Life:
As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will lead the strategic direction of Farmers Cooperative’s information technology initiatives. You will oversee the IT department, ensuring that systems, software, and infrastructure align with the cooperative’s business goals. Your role will include evaluating current IT processes, implementing upgrades, and managing relationships with technology vendors. You will collaborate with other executives to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency through technology, and you will be responsible for the department’s capital expenditures and budgeting. You will guide the development of IT policies and standards, ensure data security and compliance, and supervise the implementation of enterprise-wide systems. You will regularly meet with department heads, travel to various locations, and assess the technological needs of each site. You will work in a team-based environment and delegate tasks to IT leadership and staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technological excellence.
What’s Expected:
You will be expected to demonstrate leadership and strategic planning skills, with a deep understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity, and data management. You will communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners and maintain high ethical standards while handling sensitive company information. You must be informed on industry trends, forecasting, and attend trainings, trade shows, and industry meetings to represent Farmers Cooperative. You may occasionally be exposed to outdoor environments, including grain dust and outdoor conditions. Physically, you will work in both office and field settings and may occasionally need to lift up to 50 pounds or access elevated or confined spaces. You will be expected to think clearly, problem solve, work hard, and work more hours during busy seasons. Therefore, employees are required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
What’s Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in IT/Technology management or leadership roles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading enterprise-wide IT projects and infrastructure upgrades
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, data governance, and IT compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and workflow optimization abilities
- Understanding of agribusiness and cooperative business models
- Knowledge of and passion for agricultural technology
