This position will operate in a hybrid work environment, 3 days per week in the office (Philadelphia, PA).

OVERVIEW:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Glenmede leads the firm’s technology strategy at a defining moment in which artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping how wealth and investment management firms operate, compete, and serve clients. The CTO will own Glenmede’s enterprise-wide technology strategy and execution, lead the full investment and wealth management technology stack, and position the firm to harness AI-driven capabilities responsibly and at scale.

The ideal candidate brings deep financial services domain expertise, a strong understanding of AI’s near- and longer-term impacts on asset and wealth management, and the executive presence to lead the organization through significant transformation. This leader will drive AI adoption firmwide in close partnership with executive leadership as a business imperative, not only a technology project. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technology Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a multi-year technology strategy in partnership with executive leadership, ensuring investments are tied to strategic priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Own the full investment and wealth management technology stack, including portfolio management, order management, custody accounting, client reporting, market data, and CRM.
  • Ensure core systems are modern, well-integrated, and positioned to support next-generation advisor tools across institutional, private wealth, and endowment and foundation client segments.

AI Strategy & Enterprise Adoption

  • Own and articulate Glenmede’s AI strategy and translate it into a roadmap with clear, measurable business outcomes.
  • Partner with leadership in lines of business and corporate teams to identify and deploy AI capabilities that enhance employee productivity, investment decision-making, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish AI governance frameworks appropriate for a regulated financial institution and manage the AI vendor ecosystem.

Data Strategy

  • Define Glenmede’s data strategy as the foundation on which AI capabilities are built, including architecture, data quality, and data infrastructure.
  • Develop data governance program that enables automation, analytics and AI use cases while maintaining reliability, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.

Leadership & Delivery

  • Provide leadership of Glenmede’s technology functions including development, application management, and AI functions.
  • Build high-performing, accountable teams with strong delivery discipline, transparency on status of critical priorities, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective coordination between product leadership team and development, infrastructure, and application management groups so that new solutions are efficiently delivered and reliably maintained.

IT Governance & Cybersecurity

  • Manage the IT budget with a focus on strategic investment, cost efficiency, and transparency to executive management and governance committees.
  • In partnership with the Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Risk Officer, maintain a strong cybersecurity posture and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to technology and data.
  • Oversee relationships with key technology vendors, service providers, and consultants including oversight of contracts, vendor performance, service level compliance, and expense management.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and graduate degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years in financial services, with at least five in senior technology leadership.
  • Deep domain knowledge of wealth and investment management, including experience with portfolio management, custody accounting, client reporting, market data, and CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing technology strategies in a financial services firm, with measurable business outcomes.
  • Proven financial services acumen, including a deep understanding of financial data and a solid comprehension of the regulatory environment relevant to IT in a financial institution.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver results through project management discipline, problem-solving skills, and a data-driven approach to measuring success.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to collaborate across all levels of the company. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms for non-technical stakeholders, and likewise, translate business needs into technical requirements for the technology team.
