Chief Technology Officer

Opteon Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Hybrid)
Full Time

About the Role

Opteon is reimagining the future of property solutions. As the leading valuation insights firm across Australia, New Zealand, and the US, we deliver trusted insights by combining human expertise with industry-leading tech.
But we’re more than that. At Opteon, value means investing in our people, too.  We do this through flexible work, mentoring, and leadership pathways, all backed by a safety-first culture and meaningful benefits.
Now in a new chapter of growth, we’re expanding globally, diversifying our offering, and staying grounded in what matters most: delivering value that makes a difference.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to define, build, and scale a technology strategy that enables innovation, revenue growth, and long‑term competitive advantage.
This is a strategic, hands‑on leadership role for a technology executive who thrives at the intersection of product development, SaaS, data, AI, and enterprise IT, and who can balance mission‑critical operational stability with forward‑looking innovation.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CTO will own the organisation’s end‑to‑end technology agenda, spanning platform architecture, SaaS product development, digital innovation, IT systems, data, and security. The role plays a critical part in supporting both internal business operations and a growing external SaaS offering, while also positioning the company for future scale and diversification.
The CTO will act as a trusted advisor to the Board and leadership team, translating business strategy into technology‑enabled outcomes and driving a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across a global footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute a global technology and digital strategy aligned to commercial growth, customer experience, and operational excellence
  • Lead SaaS and product development, including go‑to‑market support and platform scalability
  • Oversee IT systems, infrastructure, and security, ensuring resilience, uptime, and strong governance
  • Drive innovation and new product development, leveraging data, AI, and emerging technologies
  • Modernise legacy platforms while maintaining business‑critical systems
  • Build and lead high‑performing, globally distributed technology and engineering teams
  • Establish strong technology governance, data privacy, and security frameworks
  • Partner closely with executive leaders, business unit heads, and external vendors to deliver measurable business value

About You
  • Proven experience as a CTO or senior technology leader in a complex, growth‑oriented organisation
  • Experience working within private equity ownership, with a strong understanding of PE‑backed growth environments, value‑creation levers, and governance expectations
  • Strong background in SaaS, cloud‑based platforms, data, and digital transformation
  • Demonstrated ability to link technology investment to commercial outcomes
  • Experience leading global or offshore teams and external technology partners
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels, including technical fluency
  • Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
  • International experience and exposure to multi‑market operations preferred

Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape the technology vision of a global organisation at a pivotal stage of growth, with real influence, executive visibility, and the mandate to innovate. The CTO will play a central role in defining how technology powers the future of the business.
